This is a traditional cake served to the guests at a wedding breakfast. This is a cake with multi-layered or tiered, and heavily decorated.

There are many tradition and belief towards the cutting of the cake. Cutting of the cake is performed by bride and groom together. The instrument used while cutting the cake is not simple knife but the ceremonial knife, sometime a sword is also used to cut the cake.

An older, archaic tradition is that bride has to serve all portions of cake to the groom's family. It tells a symbolic transfer of her household labor from her family to the groom's family.

The exact origin of the tradition of the cake is not known. But sweets are offered at many occasion and celebrations all over the world.
